Do I feel sorry for people greeted by empty shelves at the supermarkets? NOT AT ALL! Everyone knew (or should have known) that this disease would spread from Europe and Asia to Canada. THAT WAS THE TIME to stock up. My wife and I saw "the writing on the wall." For years, we have always kept at least eight months worth of EVERYTHING on hand, just in case. Canned, frozen and packaged foods, soap, toilet paper (yep bum wipe), laundry detergent, fuel for the Coleman stove and lanterns, etc. etc. etc. We rotate our food stocks and replace as needed. There's an OLD adage that we've followed for years…Better To Have It And Not Need It Than Need It And Not Have It. Does our policy make us greedy? NO! It makes us smart and PREPARED!
All Paper products gone….ALL cleaning supplies gone….All water gone….ALL pasta products gone….
While at a grocery store. A lady were complaining about the store not having toilet paper on the shelves. She said what are we going to wipe ourselves with. There were 2 rolls of Bounty paper towers on the side. I pointed at the two rolls and told her to use Bounty, it's the quicker picker upper.
Im a front end manager at a Grocery store and I knew this was coming. If you are in my situation. Talk to your your team. Create a clear expectation and show them what they need to be doing. My advice is that your cashiers are disinfecting their stations in between customers as often as possible. Gloves and mask if they are available. Make sure each cashier is washing their hands thoroughly before and after their breaks immediately when they leave their register and before they return. Keep customers spaced apart during check outs. Direct them to the exit. Not back through the entrance if your store is a smaller venue. Keep conversations to a minimum with customers. Priority is speedy check outs and disinfecting their entire shift. Continue to drill these new habits into your team and lead by example. It is the number one priority to keep an area with high community traffic clean and not crowded. If someone is sick they should not feel expected to come in for work, its for the best. If someone clearly seems sick in your department send them home. I don't expect to not get the virus myself at some point but its our part to protect older and more vulnerable high risk people in our community. What you do matters this a fight, step up.
Grocery stores jacked their prices too the big chains,7.99 for a pound of butter! Cheese up 3.00 a block!
How bout you grocery stores put toilet paper in a cage in a store and each family gets one pack a week!
We did not hoard toilet paper and had to go to 5 stores exposing my self and walked away with none!

this is a perfect illustration of exactly how much power and control the media has over the masses, the media literally controls us like evil puppet Masters telling us to Pat our heads while rubbing our stomach's, they can make us do whatever pleases them, they need only to run the correct news store which is designed to produce a desired response, and we never disappoint them…. all the while we make declarations that it's not WE that are that are being controlled,, it's always the guy next door. !!!

instead of buying toilet paper use baby wipes…..if not use/buy a bidet they cost like $50-$100 max. Thank god i have a bidet, just installed it a few months ago. Now who's laughing!

Honestly this government done a lousy job right from the beginning of this outbreak.. When China quarantined 50 million people you know things going to be bad, yet the government still let people in as if nothing happen. Why wait at the last second for the WHO to confirm this is a pandemic, Canada should take the initiative to banned all flights and quarantine people, it is too late now to contain this virus coming into Canada.

It took me 3 hours just now to get groceries. I waited 45 mins to get in the store and almost 2 hours waiting to check out. The lineup was around the store. I didn't think that it would be this bad.
