Hey Guys! SO EXCITED to finally be talking about the MUST HAVES in the decor area…this is likely the first of a series, so let me know what you think in the comments below. and if you LUV it, please remember to share, so we can get more fun stuff happening. And don't forget to drop in at lisaholtdesign.com and sign up!
Love your ideas! What if you really have books to read, a library, not just for decoration? I do have them by color but it seems a bit boring yet. What do you do also with the little trinkets, souvenirs you collect as you travel? i'd like to highlight them in someway without it looking messing or overwhelming. I am talking items that are from 3 to 5 or so inches total.
I bought a stunning group of 7 life-sized red ceramic apples on Etsy that I'm going to put in a bowl as a centerpiece on my dining table. But I'm driving myself nuts not being able to decide on a bowl. I want either milk glass (Westmoreland lattice edge milk glass fruit bowl) or clear glass (Candlewick, beaded.) Or do I think those are too vintage and I need something more contemporary like that IKEA Stockholm bowl in gold tone? Then at again, it only comes in an 8 inch diameter, so that is useless.
I once owned a furnishings & decor consignment shop. Went to lots of auctions when consignments we’re running a little low. Lots of box lots containing scads of old books. Bought ‘em to accessorize the shop, now have them on my home shelving.
So, where do I buy the kitchen wall for all these things?
I've stumbled upon this fab female woodworker with amazing designs. Right now she is doing a custom order incorporating some song lyrics.
Made-from-holm/spotify I think it is.
Can you do a video on decorating an Air B & B?
I am really enjoying your videos! I love your enthusiasm and I have learned so much! Keep going, please 🙂
I love traditional mixed with contemporary and the tension it creates for today, thank you for having the best enthusiasm! Best tips ever! I’m picking Swiss coffee .. Best white ever!♥️🌹
I would love to see a video for a living room for a family with 5 large dogs lol
I love these ideas 🥰
I like that you appreciate IKEA. Here in Berlin, I have met many people, who talk": It is just IKEA (nothing special…) I have always told them that as a matter of fact, IKEA is one of the most genuine inventions on the Earth. It makes good looking design at a decent price. Also, imagine that you would carry some heavy traditional wardrobe, made of whole wood, to the 5th floor in a 100 years or more old house, where they have no elevator! You must order a company that brings it to your home by the window. They then need car-space on the street and all is complicated. But in Ikea, you get everything in a small package and you can carry the furniture upstairs yourself. Nowadays people also move a lot, so what is more practical than IKEA? Nothing.
The idea of customized books is great! I di not know that it exists! That is why I have hired my books behind the doors. But now… At least in some places, I can utilize this ides! Thank you very much!
I love your taste. I love your videos. You're the only interior designer on YouTube I've found who doesn't just talk about IKEA nonstop, or milk painting furniture. I have to say though, books by color are incredibly vulgar. It makes one look illiterate. If you're desperate for the look, and have more money than god, by all means, have all of your books rebound. My grandparents did that with a lot of their books.
If you buy color coordinated books though, it just looks like you bought books to fill space. WHY??? If you have to fill a shelf with something decorative, buy a few coffee table books that are relevant to you to throw in there, and fill the rest with interesting artwork, or decorative pieces.
If you do have a lot of books, and want them to look better, an easy hack for a more cohesive look, that's literally free, is just taking the dust jackets off. Most book spines are pretty neutral, so that works well too. It can look impressively expensive.
I love your videos. I learn something every time. But this video was especially helpful.
It's ironic you are showing super High End Designs within your photos and suggesting Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, for purchasing home decor, makes no sense tome, just my opinion.
Not sure about putting things that easily get humidity damaged (antique wooden furniture) or mouldy (rugs) inside a bathroom, but otherwise I love your tips!
Does anyone know if you can change the speed here, on YouTube like you can on audiobooks? She is AWESOME but I’d like to slow the speech down just a tad…
Is it okay to place an area rug over carpet in the master bedroom?
I enjoy your videos for inspiration. My kitchen isn't a show stopper, but the food is!
